Okomu National Park
Okomu National park is located in Ovia South Local Government Area of Edo state. It’s some 45 kilometres west of Benin City. The park houses a rare species in the world today. That rare species is a white throated monkey. The park is also home to other animals which include; buffaloes, chimpanzees, elephants, porcupine, monkeys, antelopes, birds and several others.
Ososo Tourist Centre
Ososo tourist centre offers one a rare opportunity. That opportunity is having a spectacular view of two states in Nigeria. Ososo is a hilly and rocky town. It is located on the boundary between Edo and Kogi states. The centre has a rest house at the top of Ososo hill.
Benin City National Museum
This museum houses several exhibits, artworks, antiques and cultural pieces. It’s one museum that displays Nigerian history and culture in its purest form. Most of the exhibits in the museum have their origin from the ancient Benin Empire. It’s one of the must see museums in Nigeria.
Oba of Benin’s Palace
Located in the heart of Benin city is the Oba of Benin’s Palace. The palace has been in existence since 900 AD. The current structure was built in 1914. The palace has an array of local art and crafts, and historical pieces. The palace is one popular site in Edo state.
Igun Bronze Casters And Crafts Centre
This is the home of brass and bronze castings in Nigeria. It is so peculiar to Edo state. If you really want to see the best of bronze and brass arts, then you should visit the Igun crafts centre. It is located at Igun Street. It has been listed as a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO.
