Lagos is the smallest state in Nigeria in terms of landmass but makes up for this as the commercial nerve center of the country. As you know, where there is business, pleasure follows immediately. Lagos state is strategically located around the Atlantic ocean and culminates to reason for the existence of so many beaches in this environment (beaches are some of the most sensual places in the world). Lagos is a vital destination with several beaches from which to choose. Easter celebrations are just around the corner, so here is a list of some of the best beaches in Lagos.
One of the most popular beaches, Elegushi Beach plays host to many entertainment shows in Lagos. It is a hot, sandy, beautiful oasis located at Ikate Elegushi bus stop, off Lekki/Epe Express way. Elegushi is a private beach and offers a blend of music, food and drinks, serving up many bars and clubs.
Probably the most serene beach in Lagos, this beach is frequently visited by families and fun seekers. Beach soccer and volleyball are interesting sporting activities you can engage in here. There is the option of renting a hut for a day here and art lovers have a small art market at their disposal. The beach is located off the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Another beach on the Lagos Island axis, Atican Beach Resort is a private beach with white pure sand, lodging and restaurant and is robust to the different cravings of visitors. At the Atican Beach Resort, you can host a private party for your friends, family, work group. The beach is on Abraham Adesanya Road, Okun, Ajah Lagos. Tourists are thrilled to an evening of live music every Friday, provided by the in-house live Band.
Only accessible by boat from Tarzan Jetty at Maroko, or under Falomo bridge (for
N 1,000 per head), Takwa Bay is a serene environment sparsely populated with friendly residents some of whom are fishermen. Takwa Bay is an artificial beach that was created during the formation of the Lagos harbour. The water is a lot calmer than the exposed Atlantic coastline elsewhere around Lagos.
If you would like to take a walk by the ocean-side while enjoying the cool breeze, Bar Beach is the place to be. Horseback riding, swimming and football are among popular beach sports that you would enjoy there. However, the strong current of the sea puts of many visitors off. It is advised that you be cautious at this beach.
La Campagne Tropicana Beach
Just one hour away from the bustling, chaotic urban sprawl of Lagos is the La Campagne Tropicana beach. You can choose between a dip in the refreshing surf of the Atlantic Ocean on your left or the placid waters of a freshwater lake on your right or simply dive into a book while remaining firm on the golden sands in between. The decision is yours.
Another beautiful beach in Lagos, Lekki beach, which happens to be my most visited resort, has got white sands and tall coconut trees. This popular beach is only a few kilometers away from the city center along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
