YANKARI NATIONAL PARK
For the prime experience of wildlife, there is only one location that satisfies that urge. The park is home to a variety of creatures including herds of buffaloes, baboons, hippos, lions and a strong community of elephants. It is also a wonderful location for bird-watching. The best time to visit this location would be during the dry season (December – April) because spotting the animals is best when they gather around the Gaji River.
Situated in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, the waterfall is as a result of massive outcrop of granite rock with water cascading over the top forming a stream. The fall is 30 meters high and is located close to Awhum Monastery, and maybe that is why the water is said to be curative (have healing power) and capable of dispelling evil or satanic forces if and wherever sprinkled. It takes about 45 minutes walk from the parking spot to the fall.
THE GIANT FOOTPRINTS OF UKHUSE OKE
In a sacred grove where prehistory meets the modern, between a village called Ukhuse-oke and Ukhuseosi lies this distinct footprints of a prehistoric giant that are embedded permanently on flat granite rocks.
THE MAMBILLA PLATEAU
The Park offers tourists a gorgeous location that is well worth a visit. The Mambilla Plateau has an abundance of cattle ranches, several tea plantations and undulating, grassy hills. The fauna and flora of the Mambilla is different from the rest of Nigeria, and visitors will find some rare species of birds and animals here. The Mambilla Plateau is an exclusive topographic area with some of the biggest and highest mountains in Nigeria – some of the peaks are over 1840m.
