Oh the struggle of a messed up trip with incessant inanimate nuisances — language barriers, airline fees, lost passports, running out of cash, to mention a few. These unforeseen contingencies make traveling simply frustrating.
But as always… Enroute to the rescue!
Ranging from the practical to the profound, indulge in these travel insights and ideas for every type of traveler.
#1 Smile & Say Hello
Remember that Michael Jackson’s song ‘smile’, the one with the “Light up your face with gladness” line? Trust me on this one… It works like magic, especially if you’re a beautiful or handsome mess. It is the best-est and easiest way to make new friends on your trip. Just make eye contact, sustain the gaze for a couple of seconds, flash the bedazzling smile and glide by.
#2 Keep An Open Mind
Judge not! Instead be curious! You don’t want to miss possibilities, opportunities, people, suggestions and interests simply cause its not in sync with what you are used to. What happened to stepping out of your comfort zone? You don’t necessarily have to agree, but you may be completely swept-away by what you’ll learn.
#3 Pack Your Ear Plugs
Not meaning to sound all cliche-ish and all but how can you even change base without going along with something as part of your being as your earplugs???! I love my earplugs! It muffles the sounds of shouting mothers, crying babies, berserk travelers, barking dogs, honking horns.. Ear Plugs are a traveler’s best buddy.
#4 Don’t Be Terror-Struck
The universe and those that abound in it is not nearly as deadly as the terrestrial globe makes it out to be. Watch out for sketchy cases and arrangement but don’t let that be the focus of your entire trip. Chill out, use common sense and you’ll be just fine. The diety of travel will keep you safe.
#5 Eat Local Food
Think you already know what the native food tastes like? You’re probably a tad bit wrong. Have a bit of anything and everything when you journey onward, most especially if it’s looking pretty novel and inviting. Ask the locals in the environs for suggestive guides and get with the flow.
